Community & Civic Leadership
Public Service
Debra has an extensive record of public service. She has been elected to both the Fairview (Collin County) Town Council in the early 1990s and the City of Southlake City Council from 1998 to 2000. She also served two terms on Southlake's Planning and Zoning Commission.
Because of this experience, she is well qualified to represent parties who are trying to work through a legal dispute with a municipality. Her experience includes working on various municipal issues from both sides of the podium — land use planning, environmental regulation, easements, redevelopment, eminent domain, and tax incentives. She has also represented clients before public agencies, both local and state.
Debra served as president of the board of directors for the Bob Jones Nature Center, a 700-acre nature preserve located in the City of Southlake, from 2009 to 2019. In 2012, she negotiated a contract with the City of Southlake which turned over the management of day-to-day operations of the Nature Center to the board of directors. The board raised over $1,000,000 in private funding to support the Nature Center and grow its programs. The board of directors made a decision to resign from active management of the Nature Center in February 2019.
Debra has also served as president of the Tuscan Ridge Homeowners Association Board of Directors since 2008.
